Do you know how many players the fps multiplayer combat will involve?

It is'nt actually a seperate piece of the game. It is a whole so there is no one side versus the other. There is ship finds space station and attempts to take it if there are people on board or pirates raid your ship(or you raiding anothers ship) and the battle ensues. You have to think outside the box on this one(you may just dock and pick up suppllies or try selling various things you may have picked up or cargo runs). It is a game as a whole with you and your crewmates if you are so blessed with the bigger ships(like my constellation) crusing around, finding new starsystems/planets, maybe selling the info you get for those who want to mine or whatever, or just being a gun for hire in either a ship of your own or you could go on anothers ship if they happen to ask you to help them out. So much involved in the game that to focus on just the fps part of it is pointless. As an example my constellation Aquillia(there are other speced constellaions, combat based etc) is specced for exploration. I have myself and 4 other crewmates(real ppl) and we go to explore the universe(which is as it should be unlimited) find planets/asteroids/wormholes to other parts of the universe/etc that may be of interest and explore for mining or other possibilities(plus the fun of landing on unvisited places and getting out my rover and having a look around and seeing other lifeforms). This I can then go back and sell to whoever is interested(I already know a cpl organisations(clans) that have mining ships at the ready as well as combat focused organisations that could help you out if you have something rather important on board to protect). If attacked one of my crew get get into one of my turrents and fight as I fly. Other crew do things such as navigation/engineering/fly my fighter that I carry onboard. Also there is the socialisation on planets or space docks between other players and npcs). As you can see there is so much involved as it is meant more as a fully immersive sim rather than just a fps or flight thing. Think Star Wars or Star Trek type thing

So this is an MMO style experience, and the early access guys are gonna run roughshod over the new players on release? :D Sounds like a reboot of eve.

So romp, in your estimation, are small parties of fps players going to be able to do anything without coordination or preparation? If my friend and I want to play for an hour, and we don't have any support, can we board some ship or enter some combat zone and lurk around and accomplish something? Or will we be shut down without logistical support and reinforcements?

Unsure at this point. I would think not as you would need to have some way of getting to these places requiring a ship

I love the videos on this game so far... I would love to have a ship like the Millenium Falcon, have a crew of 2 or 3, and start smuggling for this world...

My flight instructor is still calling me a dumb ass and demanding to know what the fuck I'm doing, on a daily basis.
